Can you help me improve on the LSAT if I've plateaued with other materials?

I cannot answer this with more vigor: yes, yes, yes. I've worked with hundreds and probably thousands of students to this point. The majority of them had begun working with other online LSAT prep courses, or had even finished other courses, and improved to some extent, but ultimately not reached their goal scores. It's the most common story I hear from new students. My approach is different from every other LSAT system I've seen. I am not teaching you how to solve individual questions. I teach you a system that allows you to approach LSAT passages as a series of relationships which are, in effect, pattern repetitions of other passages you've seen countless times. We use schema learning to use structure and patterns rather than focusing on information. There are tools and processes that we will build together that other LSAT courses simply do not offer.  I have spent countless hours developing my own textbook and thinking deeply about a comprehensive system that allows you to solve the LSAT. Even if you have plateaued with other resources, you can still reach your goal score working with me.

How much tutoring will I need in order to be ready for the LSAT?

This is one of the most common questions I hear from prospective students. Unfortunately, it's impossible to know for sure. But in general, you will need less than you think. On average, most students with whom I work are able to prepare for the test within three months. Many other online LSAT prep companies say students need 30 or 50 hours of tutoring to prepare for the test, but I've found that's not the case. I offer a 10-hour package because that is very often what students need in order to be ready. I have had countless students who were studying for a year or more before they found me and then spent six-to-eight weeks with me before reaching their target scores. My LSAT prep course involves homework, and the more time you spend working on your own, the less you need to spend in class with me. Everyone is different and learns at different speeds, but working with intention is much more important than working in bulk. The way that you review incorrect answers, for example, is hugely important. Practicing with the correct processes for two months is far better than practicing bad habits for 12 months. Always be sure you're solving using the tools and processes that you're trying to naturalize to your own approach. If you do that, and work with intentionality, you will find yourself prepared for the test far sooner than if you solve in different ways at different times. Consistency is the key to a short LSAT journey: consistency in approach, in method, and in studying habits.

Is LSAT tutoring really worth the cost?

The short answer is that it depends. For some students with whom I've worked, preparation was fairly straightforward. I gave them the tools they needed, and they quite quickly adopted the system into their own approach. A few lessons were helpful, but they didn't need extensive tutoring because of their own independent learning style. But for many others, learning can be a less direct and more extensive process. Those students can often score more highly than those in the former category! But their learning style requires more external guidance. For those students, personalized coaching addresses individual weaknesses, builds confidence, and optimizes study time, making the tutoring experience both effective and time-efficient. Of course, we aren't just building your solving system for test day. I offer guidance and organization outside of lesson times, with the course including homework and a long-term study plan so that you can reach your goals. There are many reasons why LSAT tutoring is worth the investment. Your LSAT score matters when it comes to law school admissions, but learning to answer questions is only a part of what tutoring will offer you. No matter how you learn, and whether you want only a few LSAT lessons or a more long-term partnership, LSAT tutoring can be easier, faster, and more successful than trying to solve the test on your own.

What experience do you have?

I scored 177 on the LSAT, which is in the 99th percentile. I've been tutoring LSAT students as a full-time job for over five years. I have had hundreds of students, many of whom are currently in law schools across the country, and many of whom have graduated and are practicing law. Beyond that, I also have several years of teaching experience, including at the elementary, high school, and university level. I've also tutored adults, university students, and elementary students, as well as taught English as a Second Language at Hanvit Academy in Daegu, Korea.I love teaching, and I love the LSAT!

How does online LSAT tutoring work?

All online LSAT classes will take place over Zoom. Because of the functionality of the platform, I find there is no dropoff in quality between online classes and in-person classes. We work on a shared screen with annotation function, so we are always watching one another's work. When we work on formal-logic mapping, the ability to use -- and then return to in the future -- a whiteboard is remarkably helpful.Recording lessons is also available upon request, which is a very useful element that of course is not available for in-person classes. When you book an online LSAT prep class, you will receive a zoom link in your inbox. That link allows you to access the class at the recorded time. It should also automatically be added to your online calendar of choice.

Do I need to pay in advance?

I don't ask for you to pay for one-on-one lessons in advance. I want you to know what it is you're paying for before you send any money. The first lesson isn't free; it is paid. But it's best to actually experience the lesson and know what you're receiving before you pay for it.

What are your rates and session lengths?

Sessions are $175 per hour -- with discounts available through booking a package or group lessons. Though I suggest individual sessions of at least an hour, I am flexible about session lengths to fit your needs and schedule. We can determine the correct length for your sessions in our initial conversation, but we can always adapt to how you learn best as we go on.

How are group lessons structured?

Group lessons start at set times, usually every 45 days. I offer one group lesson in the morning and another in the afternoon, so there should be a slot that fits your schedule. Group lessons are more affordable than individual tutoring, costing $950 for 10 hours. Many students find group lessons more valuable because they benefit from questions asked by others. Learning is collaborative, and we move at a pace that works for everyone. Group sizes are capped at five students, so you will never feel lost in the shuffle. What are the available meeting locations for tutoring sessions?

I'm flexible with meeting locations. We can meet at my home, a nearby public library, or a coffee shop. Additionally, I offer online lessons that maintain the same quality as in-person sessions. I use whiteboard software to ensure we're always on the same page!

What is your process?

I start with a diagnostic meeting and ask you to solve some problems in both sections out loud. This gives me great insight into your process and direction, and it allows us to identify ways to cut unnecessary steps, add more precise processes, and find more direct ways to find solutions. The goal is to build a system to approach any question using structure and method, so it's helpful to see what system you already have in place.You can find examples of my thought processes here in my free resources. I'll also introduce my structural method, and we'll work together to see what elements can be combined. After method is introduced, the remaining steps are understanding and timing. We'll make a long-term study plan together. Over the next few weeks, we'll work to build up a consistent approach that is best with your style of thinking. What materials do I need to bring for lessons?

I provide all the necessary study materials and homework assignments. You only need to bring a pen and paper! You'll need to purchase your own LawHub Advantage account in order to access questions from LSAC, but otherwise, the textbook and everything else is part of the course.
