Your three steps to solving the LSAT
1.

Build a Personalized, Structural Method
We will build a process together. I'm not just explaining how to answer each question separately. I've spent years writing a textbook to elucidate a system to answer all questions. Your method will involve pattern recognition and deep understanding of structural relationships so that you can focus on what information is doing rather than what it is saying.
2.

Enjoy Approachable Teaching
I love teaching. I've spent most of my life teaching, including tutoring during high school and my undergrad, teaching English in Korea, teaching courses during my Master's, and of course teaching the LSAT over the last several years. I love watching my students improve, and I love finding out how to explain concepts in the way that you best understand.
3.

Stay Accountable
I'm with you every step of the way. I assign homework, find your strengths and weaknesses as we go, and continue to improve your understanding of every concept. I'm always accessible, even outside of lesson times. I provide a textbook, and I also have video modules available, so that you can find answers to any question through any medium. You're not alone on the journey.
My Approach to Improve Your LSAT Score
Learning to score highly on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) on all types of questions revolves around building a structured, repeatable method that relies on process instead of intuition. Understanding the LSAT is all about grasping the logical relationships within individual arguments of both Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. I work in great depth with you, molding how you think about the questions. The goal is to build a process that uses the patterns within questions rather than focusing on the information itself, combined with deep understanding of structural relationships. Through it all, your tutoring will be fun and personalized! The goal is to co-create a process that works for you rather than having me dictate my approach to you.

I start by asking you solve a few appraising LSAT questions while speaking your thought process out loud. From there, we build a study plan together that adds repeatable method, structural understanding, and addresses your weaknesses to build a foundation for you to find answers quickly and accurately. I provide all the tools you need, including accountability. LSAT prep will always be intentional and purposeful.

Outside of your Law Hub account, I provide all the materials necessary for studying and homework between lessons, including my textbook I've spent years writing. You can find examples of my process here with my free resources. When it comes to lessons, you'll only need to bring a pen and paper!

About Me

Welcome to Louis Zatzman's LSAT Tutoring! I'm Louis Zatzman. I scored in the 97th percentile on my LSAT, and I've been teaching at various levels for the majority of my life. I form real bonds with students and care about your well-being and success. I have prepared students for the LSAT for the past several years. As a result, I have many thousands of hours of experience with the LSAT, with knowledge and experience of every prep question ever publicly released by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). I can explain the process of solving any LSAT question in a way you understand! I'm a dedicated teacher, and I put in the time outside of our lessons to make sure you're best positioned to succeed. Whether you need a few quick prep lessons to improve your test score for either of Logical Reasoning or Reading Comprehension or you need comprehensive, private training, I would love to help.

Over the last few years, I wrote an LSAT textbook, and doing so has allowed me to codify my methods for both Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension and thus understand them more deeply. We use a minimalist approach, understanding what information is doing rather than what it is saying. You can find some examples here through my free resources! After understanding these pattern-based methods and adapting them to your personal learning style, you'll be able to solve any question you can see on the test. (Even ones including sufficient and necessary conditions!) Of the hundreds of students with whom I've worked, many have seen improvements of 20 points or more to their score, with the average student improving by just over 10 points. Many have surpassed 160 and even 170, and I have former students currently attending or already graduated from every law school in Canada.

Beyond my experience tutoring the LSAT, I've tutored at the elementary and high school level, taught English in Korea, and also taught at the university level at Mount Allison University and Queen's University. I have a Master's in History from Queen's. I love teaching, and my students love our process.

My lessons are personalized to fit the way you learn. I only have a small handful of students at any one time, so I have the time and energy to be responsive to and focused on everyone. I teach differently from big companies; we'll work together to build a consistent, time-saving structure that works for how you need to address LSAT questions rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. We'll find the best approach for your learning style. Outside of purchasing the LSAT study materials you need from LSAC itself, so you can access questions through Law Hub, I will provide all the study materials necessary for preparing for the LSAT, and after an introductory lesson to gauge your approach, strengths, and weaknesses, we'll come up with a customized improvement plan together. The idea is for us to work together to build a structured, repeatable method for every question of every section of the LSAT, which saves time and helps you know when you've found the correct answer. Improvement in my system is always a steady progression forward; you can see your score, ability, and understanding deepen as you put the pieces together.
What makes me different from other tutors?
-
I wrote my own textbook! I've studied this test in great depth. We aren't learning how to answer each question separately, but about the structures that unite them.
-
I love the LSAT, yes, but I really love teaching. I've taught all my life, and my favourite part of teaching the LSAT is finding how you learn and how best to offer the information in a way that you understand.
-
The LSAT is fun! Each question, ultimately, is a game, and we'll enjoy working together and learning together.
-
My students improve a huge amount. With my students seeing an average improvement to their scores of over 10 points, I've had several students score over 170.
